English was learnt in courses token from 1984 to 1988 and improved during international trips and contact with foreign colleagues. The 4-years experience as editor in chief of the most important scientific journal on Entomology in Latin America (Neotropical Entomology) obliged me to develop this skill even more as English became my working language when dealing with authors and peer reviewers worldwide. It is also remarkable that English is widely used in my day by day when conducting Pest Risk Analysis as most literature is found in English.
Writing and Oral Communication Skills
Writing – as much as reading – has always been a pleasure and it probably is a major skill in my professional trajectory as the success in several positions largely depended on the preparation of reports, and other printed of multimedia documents.
My oral skills were developed through teaching to undergraduated and graduated students, as well as through lectures, participation in committees and meetings.
